Lawrence Avenue Just Got Better Looking
On the opening day of bow season, over 25 years ago, Stacy Petrus from Prospect married Zap Houk. Now here in Western Pennsylvania, this proves that they must share true love, because not many men or women would make that kind of sacrifice. This couple has lived together here in Ellwood City for the past 15 years raising their two daughters, and like many of us, Stacy has a passion for this town. This town, however, is not the only thing that Stacy is passionate about, as she also cares a great deal about people and making people feel beautiful.
Stacy received her cosmetology license almost 25 years ago. Her salon experience includes many years working in Baden and Shenango, as well as out of her own home, but her dream has always been to own and operate her own beauty salon. With tons of help from family, especially her twin-sister Tracy, that dream became a reality this past April.
Ellwood City’s Newest Destination
Stacy believes in Ellwood City so much, in fact, that she has put her money and her future where her house is by starting her own business here on Lawrence Avenue. Through the help of her amazing partner/sister Tracy, Stacy has literally set up shop here on our very own main street. She holds such a high regard for Lawrence Avenue that she often refers to it as – special. She tells us “There is so much history on this street and so many people dedicated to Ellwood’s prosperity and success that I am constantly amazed to be part of such a great group of people.”
We proudly introduce one of our favorite new business clients, L.A. Cuts, Ellwood City’s newest destination for clients to enjoy an above and beyond salon experience. You may recognize this newly renovated spot because it once housed the salon Especially for You. The renovations and newly decorated space provide a stylish and unique lounge area for family and friends to enjoy while they wait. Parents are able to see their child’s first hair cut in comfort, couples can come in and enjoy each other with easy banter, and friends can laugh with each other without feeling regulated to the waiting area.
Stacy adds “With the assistance and support of my family and the support and teamwork of the building’s owner, the end result is exactly what I envisioned. From the tantalizing glimpse of the interior you see looking through the lettering on the interior door to the crisp black and white of the exterior, you get a sense of what awaits when you enter.”
She Loves What She Does
The Signs by Sam crew has gotten to know Stacy and her sister Tracy (who lives in San Antonio, Texas by the way) over the last few months, and it is easy to tell these two women not only care about the success and growth of this business, but also the success and growth of Lawrence Avenue and Ellwood City as a whole. Take a minute to like L.A. Cuts on Facebook and check out their easy-to-use online booking system located on the website – you won’t regret it!
“What makes owning L.A. Cuts special is not the salon itself. As much as I love the salon, it is who comes in the door that makes my day. I absolutely love what I do and I believe we really do bring style to life! It’s a great feeling making someone’s day, either by giving a great cut, fixing a problem, or creating a completely new look.” Stacy Houk
